People from Venice love to celebrate traditions, and the 21st November it is a very special day for the town because it blesses Mary, mother of Jesus, who is believed to have saved the city from a terrible plague during the 1630-1631.
In order to save the town, the Doge of Venice erected a magnificent church dedicated to Mary begging for health and it is there that still nowadays millions of people go to pray Mary and for their own health.
During this occasion, a bridge is temporarily built to allow the pilgrims to easily reach the church.
